As 2019 winds down, Grazing Detroit has had a chance to visit a few of the newer Detroit restaurants. And there are some real winners. Spanning from Mexican to fine casual Mediterranean and Asian, here are three in focus.
Peso Bar, on the edge of Mexican Village, is a fresh change up from the older traditional Mexican restaurants. Their outstanding customer service, casual / hip vibe, and great food will bring you back. There are over a dozen margarita options, vegetarian dishes, and all menu items can be ordered in a taco, burrito, or fajita style. This could be the best Mexican joint in the city. GD gives Peso a rating of 4-Def Going Back, but expect an upgrade to 5-My Top Pick List! after a few more run ins with their burritos.
PAO Detroit, next to Grand Circus Park, is a trendy fine casual Pan Asian restaurant. Featuring a wide variety of sharable dishes and a nice wine list, PAO is a fun night out or a good spot to stop before or after a show. Speaking of shows, the restaurant is located in the newly renovated old Michigan Oriental Theater Building, making for interesting architectural flare. GD gives PAO a rating of 4-Def Going Back.
Leila Detroit is a wonderful new restaurant serving Lebanese cuisine in the heart of Capitol Park. Leila is on the first floor of the newly renovated historic Farwell Building and looks out on the park. Open seating is available in the lounge and at the bar, while you will want reservations for the restaurant, as well as the large private dining room on the lower level. Significant investment went into the details of the building and restaurant space. More importantly, the owner has clearly put heart and sole into the menu, feel, and service. The food is outstanding! Grazing Detroit gives Leila Detroit a rating of 5-My Top Picks List!
