The 2018 holiday season officially kicks off downtown with the tree lighting at Campus Martius this Friday evening, November 16th. The redevelopment of Campus Martius Park along with neighboring businesses and events have been at the core of the downtown redevelopment.
This year marks the 15th annual tree lighting and the event will include a variety of musical performances as well as figure skating exhibitions by some top-notch skaters. Sorry, no Red Wings, but some really good figure skaters.
Festivities start at 5:00 PM with tree lighting at 7:45 PM. The holiday market stores in Cadillac Square and Capitol Park will also be opening up for the season.
There are several excellent restaurants within walking distance of the park including PARC, Central Kitchen, Grand Trunk, La Lanterna, Wright & Co, Vincente’s and several others. Check out The List for restaurant recommendations.
